What Makes SMUSOM Different

1. 100% Three-Year Residency Placement Rate is the percentage of students attaining a residency position out of all graduates or expected graduates in 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 who were active applicants in the NRMP match or attained a residency outside the NRMP match.

2. First-time pass rate defined as total number of students passing the USMLE Step 1 on their first attempt divided by the total number of students taking USMLE Step 1 for the first time during the calendar years 2022-2024. In order to sit for the USMLE Step 1 exam, the student must successfully complete the Basic Science curriculum and such other prerequisites as the school may establish at its discretion.

3. First-time pass rate defined as total number of students passing the USMLE Step 2 CK on their first attempt divided by the total number of students taking USMLE Step 2 CK for the first time in calendar year 2024. In order to sit for the USMLE Step 2 CK exam, the student must successfully complete the Clinical Medicine curriculum and such other prerequisites as the school may establish at its discretion.

The culture here is really welcoming. Each student and prospective student gets a mentor assigned to them, which is usually a student that has been at the university for awhile. I really like the small class sizes. The faculty is very open, and they give us hours to see them. They also have different speakers come in and inform us about the road ahead.

At St. Matthew’s University, your success is our priority. Our Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, designed alongside leading U.S. and Canadian medical schools, spans ten semesters. Students complete Basic Science in the Cayman Islands before continuing Clinical Medicine rotations at affiliated hospitals and medical centers across the U.S., with select elective rotations available in Canada.

We accept applications throughout the year, with classes beginning in January, May, and September.

Applicants may submit their application before all required documents are available. Pending materials, such as transcripts, can be uploaded as they are received to help expedite the admissions review process and decision timeline.

If you have already completed a medical school application through AMCAS, AACOMAS, TMDSAS, or OMSAS, you may upload a verified copy of your existing application through our common application form for a more streamlined process.
